From Friendship to Language: My Journey to Learning Russian
"One of my best friends is Russian. She has lived in Belgium since she was thirteen and speaks perfect French. Yet I notice that Russian has remained the language of her heart. Even if I speak just a small Russian word, I can see how happy it makes her. That motivated me to learn a bit of Russian. Also, it helps me communicate better with her parents, who never learned French."
"It took me a while to find a suitable Russian course. I was specifically looking for an online class because I don’t feel very comfortable in a classroom with twenty other students. But everywhere, classes were only offered in person. Moreover, many courses were very expensive or not at my level. I really needed a beginner level (A1). Fortunately, I finally found the online courses at Crescendo CVO: at A1 level and also affordable. I am so happy about that!"
"The grammar is quite tricky, but I’m extremely happy that I can ask the teacher questions. I’m sure I wouldn’t learn as quickly in another way, for example using an app. Yesterday, I tried out a few sentences for the first time with my friend’s father. He immediately had a big smile on his face. It became a conversation of more than two hours in a mix of French, English, and Russian. I’m so happy that I got to learn a part of his life story. Even in an era of AI, it is definitely worthwhile to learn a new language. Culture and human contact cannot be replaced by AI or Google Translate."
